Present global and national updates on maternal and reproductive health
Cesarean section rates are rising globally, including in Jordan, often without clear medical justification. While cesarean delivery can be lifesaving, unnecessary procedures increase risks for mothers and babies and place additional burdens on health systems. This interactive scientific day empowers healthcare professionals to promote safe vaginal birth, reduce avoidable cesareans, and align practice with international guidelines (WHO, RCOG, USAID) adapted to the local context.
Through case-based discussions, simulations ,and lectures participants will explore evidence-based strategies, ethical considerations, and practical tools for improving maternal outcomes. The workshop emphasizes respectful maternity care, informed decision-making, and teamwork in the labor.
The "Induction of Labour" lecture provides a comprehensive overview of the medical procedures and considerations involved in artificially stimulating uterine contractions to initiate childbirth. It covers various methods of induction, including pharmacological agents (like prostaglandins and oxytocin) and mechanical methods (such as amniotomy and balloon catheters). The course also delves into the indications and contraindications for induction, potential risks and benefits for both mother and baby, and strategies for monitoring maternal and fetal well-being throughout the process. Emphasis is often placed on evidence-based practices, patient counseling, and shared decision-making in the clinical setting.
